The Sydney Meow

Can't quite work out how Jon Feine expects there to be some sort of major decision at this great convention about carbon trading when there was none before it . Sydney could have had a lot more substance , if the cats were better coralled by the concepts - the intellectual climate ( drought) may be as big a real worry as the climate?
Despite the ambition of some ABC church persons to nail both the problem and the solution before church started, there was clearly no agreement amongst the cats - esp over the value of and dangers of carbon dioxide . Infact allowing "change" to go into the name of the game was a huge mistake on the cautious cats side ; "Co2 discharge limits" ,on the agenda side, would have carried more weight in any debate . Buts thats not all - the big picture has gone missing .

Syncretistic schmaltz its what you get if you care more about agreements than what the agreement really says .You have to wonder about ABCchurch; maybe its more about agreements per se than what agreements say . After all , why does the choir , each week , still sing the same praises about wishy washy Kyoto and its wonderful words.

Its true - no good blaming China when US and Aust failed to support Kyoto .
But the real woose in all this talking and chanting is the adoption of the pontification principle - by stating one solution and one problem together , we will , infact , nail both down . Whatever happened to giving meat and substance to consensus and diversity; its a big world you know! - clearly the trading doctrine is a piece of toggling with the enemy ,a fractured patch of
syncretistic schmaltz that only the worshipers of such careless unscientific mixing take seriuosly . .

Under this thoroughly post modern doctrine of everbody being right , the cats were able to move around the wheelbarrow with ease. Noone particularly aware that because the doctrine of "all things to all men" applies , its the very licence all the cats need to preach their own version of problems with fixed solution : the outcome? a growing rather than narrowing set of fixed solutions . The self justification grows while science and sound sense goes out the window .
Those who have watched abcchurch grow know cats take some coraaling ; The Sydney cats would be very pleased to be there - they moved in and out of the wheel barrow with ease . Nothing quite like a cats smile ! Makes mere mice feel real bad .
Like many thinking conservationists concerned about resource use , I would much rather the cats were properly corralled. While ABC church continues to resist the key economic doctrine from the past --we will continue to have cats going everywhere - the doctrine? : the greatest evil comes with good intentions.
