BREATH OF FRESH AIR does us all good . Have to say I haven't enjoyed listening to 774 so much as when Jon Feine allowed, over the last couple of days to give the people's perspective to the quick fix and fanatical responses to vilification and worldview concerns .
What a great testimony from the older immigrants who rang and said " we felt hurt too" when our fathers were said to be "born bullies". But we got over it, Big deal !
People are jealous and fearful --naturally; DO we do we give in to such emotion -deal with it openly, or sit on it like some tyrants of talk control ? Can we legislate against it? No . No, and only bureabrats think they can mediate such debate from the front office.
Too much telling people what they "should do" tends to make them do it or hide their actions and thoughts, increasing the level of "I 'll get you later" in the back of the schoolyard.
Governments can be the enemy of the people(esp as a power base for dodgy dogooders and brokers who use power rather than influence)
Our dear Auntie has proved itself a great outlet to prick the bureaubrats ( they do what they think is right, including write the legislation they like ) presumption to preach and teach us about what the people know best ---
Things such as-getting the balance right between law and liberty, ideas and actions , behaviour and belief .The tension is there, as Hegel said , and the tension will not go away if we don't talk about it. The "no talk" religious convention only sits on on the real issue till it explodes -A modern form of mental illness that's all around us.

The balance between the greatest evil and the best intention is NOT kept ( as history shows )by someone trying to shoosh us and tell us to "Be nice", We may not like it but we need to talk about the real differences between our world views in our own places? 'Your family think they are so perfect!"is no fun to hear but a thought that needs to be shared in the context of unconditional truth telling.
The dumbest thing the Hull /Bracks government has done with its kindergarten level bullying ( R&RVilification ) is to stop people talking . The way our forefathers used to prevent real war was to talk about our passions -face to face;
Having a war of words is the democratic tradition . If we can't talk, does more real physical war become more or less likely ?
