How did the campaign get it so wrong? switching lights off when it doesn't matter.- Better to switch off in the morning or when it makes a difference. Do they know or care what makes a difference or is chanting their main theme? Surely its partly because those who run these campaigns are novices and can't see beyond restraint theology .

The truth is that many who would like to have the fear of God to motivate others have no God and only your taxes and sweet tasting tokens to get people into the pews . Gives you a warm feeling but by no means a sustainable ceiling .Guilt is an ongoing and uncomfortable feeling - esp if your children say " why don't we switch the lights off every night mum ?"
Dumb predicatble and depressing dirges that kill are no match IF there is light at the end of a better management culture -
For those of us who trained there, the hard edge choices are neither fear driven nor education driven or government driven but a combination of all - in the right place , at the right time. Otherwise the better than thou hypocrisy takes over . Unresolved guilt in church - never very comfortable.

Restraint is not a doctrine that has any life in it .its too rigid and too simplistic .chanting "restraint" is not a modus operandi of sustainability- a cure all . CUT WITH CARE More encouragingly - you can with care -----have your electricity and save it too .

Time the ABC recognised the depressing and monocultural nature of its nature talk.
After all, its only days since RUDD gave 10 billion to save water that may not ever have gone missing-
RUDD may well, as art historian robert hughes indicated,have been persauded to provide YET another token --a sort of grand euphemism of trust in politicians and engineers to act in the publics interest . It is after all, the mostly costly ageement in Australia's history that is not an agreement.Yet

The devil of course is in the detail and leaders of any substance are good at dealing with the detail!
